"There are places in the world that don't just change your view — they change the way you see. Ladakh is one of them."
At over 3,500 metres above sea level, Ladakh exists in its own dimension. This is a land where silence has texture, where the air carries the faint ring of monastery bells, and where a single road through a mountain pass can feel like crossing into another era entirely. If you've been dreaming of it, this guide is for you.
B2 Adventure Tour and Travels has been taking travellers through this extraordinary landscape since 2006 — registered with the J&K Tourism Department and trusted by over 20,000 satisfied explorers. Here's everything you need to know before you go.
The Places That Will Stay With You
Ladakh's geography is staggering in its variety. Within a single journey you pass from golden desert valleys to electric-blue alpine lakes, from bustling Leh bazaars to nomadic campsites under impossible skies.
A shimmering 134 km stretch of high-altitude salt water whose surface shifts from turquoise to cobalt with the hour. Mesmerising, borderless, unforgettable.
Ancient monasteries, sand dunes, double-humped Bactrian camels, and the warmth of Ladakhi village life — all tucked between dramatic Karakoram ridges.
Remote, wind-scoured plateau roamed by Changpa nomads and their pashmina goats. Tso Moriri lake here is one of the most serene sights in Asia.
The beating heart of Ladakh. Wander the ancient palace ruins, browse the Main Bazaar, try butter tea, and watch the mountains glow at golden hour.
Ladakh for the Bold
Ladakh isn't just beautiful — it's one of the world's great adventure arenas. The terrain demands to be ridden, rafted, and climbed. B2 Adventure offers thrill experiences that put you right inside the landscape:
The Ladakh bike expedition remains the pinnacle for many. Routes through Khardung La — one of the world's highest motorable roads at 5,359 m — and around Pangong Lake are rites of passage for riders. Our guided expeditions handle every logistical detail so you can focus entirely on the road and the view.
When to Go & What to Know
Best Season: May to September
The mountain passes open around late May and close again by late October. June through August is peak season — roads are clear, skies are big, and the valleys are in full bloom. September offers cooler temperatures and thinner crowds, ideal for photography and trekking.
Permits Required
Indian nationals need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter restricted zones including Pangong, Nubra, and Tso Moriri. Foreign nationals require Protected Area Permits. B2 Adventure handles all permit logistics as part of your package — zero hassle.
Acclimatisation is Non-Negotiable
Altitude sickness is real. Spend your first 24–48 hours in Leh resting, hydrating, and eating light. Avoid alcohol and exertion. This short investment in acclimatisation pays back enormously in comfort and safety for the rest of your trip.
Packing Checklist for Ladakh
- ✦ Thermal base layers and a quality down jacket — even summer nights drop sharply
- ✦ High-SPF sunscreen and UV-protective sunglasses — the sun at altitude is fierce
- ✦ Sturdy waterproof trekking shoes with ankle support
- ✦ Personal medications and altitude sickness pills (Diamox if prescribed)
- ✦ BSNL, Airtel, or Jio postpaid SIM — prepaid cards from other states won't work
- ✦ Offline maps downloaded — internet is sparse outside Leh
- ✦ Cash in hand — ATMs are limited beyond the city
How Long Should You Stay?
A 6 to 8 day trip comfortably covers Leh, Pangong Lake, and Nubra Valley — the classic Ladakh circuit. Extend to 10–12 days to reach Changthang and Tso Moriri, or to allow for a proper bike expedition without rushing any leg of the ride.
B2 Adventure offers packages for every kind of traveller: families, solo explorers, honeymoon couples, group biker convoys, and budget backpackers. Every itinerary is fully customisable — duration, accommodation tier, activities, and pace are all shaped around what you actually want from the journey.
